Emergence of new era in Indian Polity

last month's general election in India has significant message for all of us. In more then one way ,it was historic election.
First: The participation of voters was unprecedented , and more important  young voters contributed significantly in this enhanced voter participation. Election Commission of India must be congratulated for this. They did a marvelous job through their SVEEP programme.
Second: The result of election was also historic. For the first time after Independence a truly Non congress government  has got an absolute majority in lower house.(In 1977 Janta Party was simply a mixture of four political parties, ideologically different political parties who came together simply to dislodge congress govt of emergency days)
Third: For the first time a party has got absolute majority without getting substantial votes of minorities, particularly muslims. That is baffling because muslim constitutes 15 % of total votes and they are considered to influence result in almost 100 constituencies. Since 1952 ruling party or at least ruling coalition always got a big part of muslim votes.
Fourth:
For the first time since 1984, there will not be any recognised opposition perty, as no party has got more then 10% of total seats. Congress will have to depend on mercy of ruling party to get its loksabha leader designated as leader of opposition.
Fifth: Congress has fared so badly that it is more now like a regional party. And there are some very influential party (Who have played a decisive role in letting UPA govt survive at crucial juncture) which are no longer represented like Mayavati's BSP, Ajit Singh's RLD, Farooq Abdullah's National Conference etc.

No doubt the present Loksabha will be totally different in its texture and for the first time a political party with a different ideology vis a vis congress party has got the mandate of people.
The million dollar question is how it happened. I think there are some concrete reasons:
firstly- All the political parties except NDA tried to corner bulk of Muslim votes through aggressive incentives exclusively meant for minorities. This intense fight among "Secular" parties led to a situation that majority of Hindus felt cornered in this vote bank politics. This led to erosion of caste lines during voting.
secondly- The people of India always associate themselves with a sense of pride with respect to the post of Prime Minister of India. Gradual marginalization of this highly august post means people felt a kind of humiliation for themselves. For them this post of PM is not a party post. Incidences of undermining the authority of PM sent a very bad signal to masses. It is noteworthy that an assertive Prime Minister in 2009 got majority of votes but in UPA2 story was completely different.
thirdly- UPA 2 was rocked by series of scams. Governemnt of the day not only failed to control these scams but a message was seen that Govt is trying to shield the culprits. The corruption tag cost dearly to Congress.
fourth- The life of common mass became more and more difficult due to gradual rise in inflation and consequent rise in prices of essential commodities. People were fed of daily problems due to this rise in price.
fifth- UPA went in election with a negative bent of mind. Instead of highlighting their achievements, they try to convince people that Narendra Modi is demon type of person ,that country will be divided if he comes to power. It even tried to negate the Gujrat model of developments. The treatment of Nrendra Modi like a political untouchable proved counter productive.

In my all the above five reasons collectively led to collapse of congress and emergence of BJP to the centre of Indian Political system
So, No doubt , a new era in Indian Polity has emerged.

Anger and Love has no limit

While a man was polishing his new car , his four year old son picked a stone and scratched lines on the side of car . In anger , the man took the child's hand & hit it many times , not realizing he was using a wrench .
At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures . When the child saw his father with painful eyes he asked 'dad when will be my fingers grow back ? That man was so hurt & speechless. He went back to the car and kicked it many times . Devastated by his own actions sitting the front of the car he looked at the scratches and realised that child had written 'LOVE YOU DAD ' Next day that man commited suicide.
Anger and Love has no limits .......always remember that things are to be used & people are to be loved . But the problem is in today's world is that ,people are being used & things are loved ................
It is said that for every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness. sometime anger can really damage you horrible .
Now just one more:
girl and guy were speeding over 100 mph on a motorcycle)
Girl: Slow down. I am scared.
Guy: No this is fun.
Girl: No its not. Please, its too scary!
Guy: Then tell me you love me.
Girl: Fine, I love you. Slow down!
Guy: Now give me a BIG hug. (Girl hugs him)
Guy: Can you take my helmet off and put it on? Its bugging me.
In the paper the next day: A motorcycle had crashed into a building
because of break failure. Two people were on the motorcycle, but only
one survived.
The truth was that halfway down the road, the guy realized that his
breaks broke, but he didn't want the girl know about it . Instead, he had her say she loved him, but felt her hug one last time, then he gave his
helmet to her so she would live even though it meant he would die.
if u r really loving someone frm ur heart.....

The legacy of Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar , the greatest person ever of Indian cricketing world has called it a day. Since last four or five days , every newspaper, TV channel, the world of Internet is full of praise for this legend of cricket.
I have followed Sachin since the day he played his first cricket test in 1989, all the great knocks which has made India proud of him, are moving like snapshots in my mind. No doubt Sachin has given a new meaning to game of Cricket in India. Most of batting world records are now in his name. The records which he has made will be difficult to be broken in near future. Sachin Tendulakar has established as one of the select best of all time greats of world cricket. Any page of cricket will be incomplete without Sachin printed in it.

However, for me greatness of Sachin Tendulkar is not limited to his cricketing genius. What makes him truly a great person is his gentle nature humble attitude both on and off the field. World sports is known for great players who have also made news of their arrogance both on and off the field.

Giving Sachin , Bharat Ratna is good news. He deserve it , but I would have been more happy if  ,the hockey legend, Major Dhyan Chand (which many consider to be the greatest sports man India has ever seen) would also have been awarded this award along with Sachin.

Anyway, Sachin is in our heart and will remain so for ever.

Gandhi : remembering him on his birth anniversary

Today is the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi- One of the greatest human ever born in this world.
People in India look upon Gandhi in two ways; first he has got freedom for this country and second his policy and thinking is the root cause of many problems of this country.

Many people believe that Gandhi was too soft on muslims , He did not follow impartial principle w.r.t. communal harmony and that in spite of the Pakistani aggression in Kashmir, #Gandhiji fasted to compel the government of India to release an amount of Rs. 55 crores due to Pakistan in 1948. If  nation was divided on the basis of religion, it should have reflected in Indian polity too.And then perhaps , we were not facing the kind of communal divide as exist today. His thinking on mode of development is outdated in present context.

Some of above facts may be correct, but I view Gandhi from a different perspective. Gandhi gave this world something which is unparallelled in the history of human civilization. He gave us a too of non violence which is highly effective in pursuing justified demands. What Gandhi preached , he followed them whole heartedly.

Gandhijee said  :"The world will live in peace , only when the individuals composing it make up their minds to do so".

Undoubtedly each and every person or we should say every citizen of the global family, ought to be committed to peace in today's human predicament , caused by conflicts due to Ideological Extremism, Religious Fundamentalism, Misguided Nationalism, Economic Injustice and Inequality. Violation of Human Rights, Suppression of Freedoms,  Population Explosion, Racial and Ethnic Discrimination, etc.

Gandhi recognized .the potentiality of these various kinds of conflict as occasions to contemplate over the confirmed problems and also as opportunity to search peaceful means to resolve them, because of his positive attitude . To achieve simultaneously the negative aim of conflict situation  and the positive aim of establishing peace, Gandhi propounded his philosophy of peace. The need of ours is to proclaim again and again the significance of Gandhian principles to solve crucial problems of conflicts and violence.
Gandhi's approach had always been Holistic as human life is a synthetic whole, which can not be divided into watertight compartments of social , religious, political life etc.
Gandhi may not be remebered as the greatest statesman but certainly his life was itself so pious that we can follow blindly what he practiced in his personal life. Following personal life of Gandhi will , no doubt, help in character building of individual, society and nation. His economic policies may not be practical today but if we follow Gandhi's principle of truth and non violence in our day to day life , then most conflict situations will simply vanish.
This is the way , we should remember Gandhi.

Story with management lesson

It may appears strange but it is a fact that in the world of management , it is not efficiency and honesty counts. These two stories really give us eye opening management lessons:

Story # 1
It's a fine sunny day in the forest and a lion is sitting outside his cave, lying lazily in the sun. Along comes a fox, out on a walk.

Fox: "Do you know the time, because my watch is broken"

Lion: "Oh, I can easily fix the watch for you"

Fox: "Hmm... But it's a very complicated mechanism, and your big claws will only destroy it even more."

Lion: "Oh no, give it to me, and it will be fixed"

Fox: "That's ridiculous! Any fool knows that lazy lions with great claws cannot fix complicated watches"

Lion: "Sure they do, give it to me and it will be fixed"

The lion disappears into his cave, and after a while he comes back with the watch which is running perfectly. The fox is impressed, and the lion continues to lie lazily in the sun, looking very pleased with himself.

Soon a wolf comes along and stops to watch the lazy lion in the sun.
Wolf: "Can I come and watch TV tonight with you, because mine is broken"

Lion: "Oh, I can easily fix your TV for you"

Wolf: "You don't expect me to believe such rubbish, do you? There is no way that a lazy lion with big claws can fix a complicated TV.

Lion: "No problem. Do you want to try it?"

The lion goes into his cave, and after a while comes back with a perfectly fixed TV. The wolf goes away happily and amazed.
Scene : Inside the lion's cave. In one corner are half a dozen small and intelligent looking rabbits who are busily doing very complicated work with very detailed instruments. In the other corner lies a huge lion looking very pleased with himself.

Moral : IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY A MANAGER IS FAMOUS; LOOK AT THE WORK OF HIS SUBORDINATES.

Management Lesson in the context of the working world : IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY SOMEONE UNDESERVED IS PROMOTED; LOOK AT THE WORK OF HIS SUBORDINATES

Story # 2

It's a fine sunny day in the forest and a rabbit is sitting outside his burrow, tippy-tapping on his typewriter. Along comes a fox, out for a walk.

Fox: "What are you working on?"

Rabbit: "My thesis."

Fox: "Hmm... What is it about?"

Rabbit: "Oh, I'm writing about how rabbits eat foxes."

Fox: "That's ridiculous ! Any fool knows that rabbits don't eat foxes!

Rabbit: "Come with me and I'll show you!"

They both disappear into the rabbit's burrow. After few minutes, gnawing on a fox bone, the rabbit returns to his typewriter and resumes typing.

Soon a wolf comes along and stops to watch the hardworking rabbit.

Wolf: "What's that you are writing?"

Rabbit: "I'm doing a thesis on how rabbits eat wolves."

Wolf: "you don't expect to get such rubbish published, do you?"

Rabbit: "No problem. Do you want to see why?"

The rabbit and the wolf go into the burrow and again the rabbit returns by himself, after a few minutes, and goes back to typing.

Finally a bear comes along and asks, "What are you doing?

Rabbit: "I'm doing a thesis on how rabbits eat bears."

Bear: "Well that's absurd !"

Rabbit: "Come into my home and I'll show you"

Scene : As they enter the burrow, the rabbit introduces the bear to the lion.

Moral: IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW SILLY YOUR THESIS TOPIC IS; WHAT MATTERS IS WHOM YOU HAVE AS A SUPERVISOR.

Management Lesson in the context of the working world: IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW BAD YOUR PERFORMANCE IS; WHAT MATTERS IS WHETHER YOUR BOSS LIKES YOU OR NOT

----- A lot of people like me are experiancing both the above lessons--------

Brutality against girl in Delhi- the shame capital of India

It is horrible, It is beyond imagination that someone can go so far in terms of cruality with a 5 year old girl. The culprit, in my view, must be a mentally insane , perverted person. Such kind of crimes should be unacceptable in a civilized society. Exemplary punishment is need of hour.
More disturbing is the behavior of police towards victims and her family. They displayed complete lack of sensibilities and extreme degree of negligence with malafide intention. They should have been dismissed from service.
However for me , more important is the fact that the family of victim are very poor, and this the main reason that they failed to get support of system on time. Had it been a case of VIP daughters , all the state machinery would have swung into action within no time and she would have been recovered within hours.
That is why, I always say that India is for the VIPs only. They are above law. All system resources are reserved for them. No police officers will touch them , even if they commit a crime. They can crush poor people sleeping on pavement by their foreign made car, but police will help them to escape from clutches of law.
VIPs and their sons/daughters never care for traffic regulations. They can park their vehicle at no parking zones. But traffic officials will not fine them.
We the people of India are destined to suffer , we suffered during Britsh raj and after independence , our own elected representatives are exploiting and torturing us.
If such crime can happen regularly in Delhi, then one can imagine the scene at small towns and villages across India.
And for Delhi, It is not only the capital of India but more appropriately...
                                       SHAME CAPITAL OF INDIA.

Why some people are so mean ?

At times I wonder how mean people can become to create problems for others when they find that all other methods to achieve their vested interests have failed.... That is really surprising that when things are settled now ,still they are trying to create obstacles. I know this is not the kind of problem which only I am facing. This world is full of glaring examples.People like treading on other people, they try to outwit you all the time, but are probably only really jelous of you.

But the bigger question is how to tackle such persons? In my the best way is that you cannot expect every person to be kind and gentle , at the same time if you can see mean people just move on , its nothing to stay back and worry .And most important ,you should not be mean and unfriendly ,

A Love Poem

It feels nice when someone misses u
feels good when someone loves u.
feels better when someone is with u.
But it feels the best when
someone never 4gets you...

Being yours is my basic necessity,
Missing you is my habit.
But forgetting you is like taking
my life out of me.

U make me realize that
You cannot fall in love
You can just rise in love.

Take my eyes but let me see you.
Take my mind but let me think about you.
But if you want to take my heart..
Its already with you.

When you love someone,
its like reaching for a star..
You know you cant reach
it, but u keep trying
Coz may be one day that star
just might fall for you.

Your smile is a beautiful as dew
Nothing is beautiful than it
Your love is as warm as fireplace
Nothing warmer than that

I just want to say I love you..
Till my life apart..

You are the reason of my breath
You are my creation my world..
Life can never be complete without
your love.

What is Success? - a poem

In first week of May , I got a chance to attend a workshop on "Leadership Styles" at Delhi. What a wonderful experiance! Really resource persons were so talented and so motivating that , I do not have doubt that world is full of good and successful people. I am unfortunate if I do not get a chance to hear them or interact with them. I wish to write a lot on my experiance of this workshop, but at this moment this poem written by Amanda Bradley entitled - What is Success?- which was presented before us :-

What is success?

Success is believing in all you can be,
in all that you dream and dare,
Taking time to help others
find their dreams as well,
being ready to give and to share...........

Success is enjoying
the pathways you have chosen
and feeling so glad to be you,
Helping others to feel
self fulfillment and joy and real pride
in whatever they do.........................

Success is discovering
new ways to reach higher
and reach out to those all around....
for only through caring
and helping and giving
can life's true successes be found !

Really a motivating poem , I really like and love it.....

Bihar Divas

But there are enough reasons why we should feel proud of being bihari- The first republic of world, Gautam Buddha got enlightment, Chanakya, the great econmoist and political scientist, The Nalanda University, valmiki wrote ramayan here, Sushrut, the father of surgery, Bhagwan mahavir, Kamsutra of Vatsayana, Aryabhatt-the great astronomer----- the list is endless.

Valentine day for me

We might have missed the deeper meaning of Valentine's day by singling out romantinc love as focus of this day's ultimate meaning. Love is multifaceted. It is much more, ya, much more then simply emotion.love is a force that can motivate, create, heal and transform the lives of anyone it touches. Many of us have forgotten that this day was created to recognise a saint.

We can see that the story of St. valentine represents many aspects of love.It was his love for God and his commitment to his values that made him to disobey the law.His respect for romantic love is also included in his disobedience.
SO what we should do on this day? in my view - being our own valentine, sharing meaningful and heartful appreciation to all the important persons in our life will be the ideal thing i.e. it should not be limited to our lover only, and finally recommiting to our spiritual values.
We will feel the real joy of life as we release the force of love into our life.
This may seem too simplistic, but love works.

INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY

International Women’s Day is marked on the 8th of March every year. It is a major day of global celebration of women. The focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women’s economic, political and social achievements.

There is no doubt women have strongest influence on us. However, the "battle" of the sexes is as old as the hills. In patriarchal societies, women are conditioned to accept men as the superior sex. But awareness, education, and life's struggles have led women to shed their inhibitions. Great women leaders, artists, scientists, and other professional women have inspired other women to overcome social obstacles. However, the course of womens empowerment is not smooth and hassle free. Our society still remains heavley in favour of males. Look, what happened yesterday? A historic bill on womens reservation could not be passed in Rajyasabha. Reason? Was it due to resistence from some opposition members? NO, The fact is that ruling party failed to show the courage at crucial moment. There is undercurrent that large number of MPs from ruling party are against this. So I strongly feel that now only a miracle can save this bill.

A society based on equal opportunity for both sexes is what we deserve. Unfortunately, even empowered and liberated girls and women are subjected to various kinds of injustice on the ground of gender. Many people still prefer a beautiful face over a beautiful brain. It will not be too much if I say that for large number of men a beautiful woman's face is like chocolate, cash or cocaine . they feel happy to be in company of a beautiful face and never try to recognise that many times an ugly face may have beautiful brain. This kind of behaviour has led to a system wher a girl or woman try to display her beauty in order to get recognision. And that is real discrimination. We need a society where beauty of physcical body should become meaningless and merit should be only criteria for judging a girl or woman.

Until women and girls are liberated from exploitation and injustice, all our dream of peace, security and sustainable development stand in jeopardy.

But we are living in 21st century. A lot has changed and I hope that sooner or later a society based truly on equal opportunity for both sexes will emerge. Happy womens day to all.
